우리의 이야기
WILLSWAY English는 아주 단순한 질문에서 시작되었습니다.
"다문화 가정의 아이들은 어떻게 여러 언어를 자연스럽게 익히는 걸까?"
다문화 가정에서 자라는 아이들은 여러 언어를 동시에, 그리고 놀라울 만큼 자연스럽게 습득합니다. 억지로 암기하거나 문법을 외우기보다, 가족과의 일상적인 소통 속에서 언어를 이해하고 사용하면서 언어를 자신의 것으로 만들어 갑니다.
물론 이러한 자연 습득 방식은 가장 이상적인 언어 학습 방법이지만, 보통 10년 이상의 긴 시간이 필요하며 부모의 언어 환경과 지속적인 노출에 크게 영향을 받습니다.
저희는 다국어 환경에서 성장하는 아들 William을 보며, 이러한 자연스러운 언어 습득 과정을 깊이 연구하기 시작했습니다. 그리고 다문화 가정에서 이루어지는 언어 습득의 핵심 원리를 교실에서도 재현하고, 더 체계적이고 더 빠르게 구현할 수 있는 방법을 찾고자 했습니다.
